Bengaluru: Nov 20 : The self-styled Huccha Venkat, in the later hours of Thursday, has been arrested by Jnanabharati police for allegedly defaming Dr B R Ambedkar during a televised interview.
The Jnanabharati Police on Thursday arrested Kannada film actor ‘Huccha’ Venkat for his derogatory statement against Dr. B.R. Ambedkar during an interview in a Kannada news channel recently.
‘Huccha’ Venkat, who was known for his provocative remarks, had made a statement against Dr. Ambedkar.
The students of Bengaluru University had filed a police complaint. There were massive protests against the actor.
Following this, Venkat went to the police station where the police arrested him and remanded him in judicial custody.
A long back story:
Venkat, the man who enjoyed his 15 minutes of fame two years ago by claiming that he was getting married to actress Ramya and inviting people for it, is back. This time, he was celebrating his birthday before the media and refused to hold the heroine of his film, Kavitha, for the shutterbugs. He said his 'girl' will feel bad if he touches another girl. He did pose for the cameras with Kavitha, but maintaining a distance. His new film Huchcha Venkat (Mad Venkat) is ready for release.
Venkat's family claimed he was under treatment for mental illness when he made the claim of marriage two years ago. Months later, Venkat returned to announce the film. But his 'madness' does not seem to have deserted him. He claimed during his birthday cake-cutting event that he beat up most people on the sets to get the best work out of them. "I beat up even the heroine," he claimed in her presence.
Some things, however, seem to have changed. He has voluntarily deleted some scenes in the film which those who watched it felt were indecent. The scenes had been passed by the Censor Board, but Venkat decided not to retain them in the release version of the film.
