Justin Bieber Ama Performance

Bieber! 'Star Wars'! The 5 best AMAs performances

The 2015 American Music Awards featured flashy performances, surprise reunions and a touching tribute to the victims of the Paris terror attacks. Here's what you missed in under 2 minutes.
Just like that, another American Music Awards has come and gone. But what Sunday night's show lacked in Adele bemoaning her lovelorn youth, it made up in some killer performances across the board. Selena Gomez, The Weeknd and Gwen Stefani all delivered stellar turns, as did Ariana Grande and Celine Dion with big-voiced showstoppers.
Here are five other must-watch performances you might've missed:

Jennifer Lopez's marathon opening

Would you believe J.Lo is 46 years old? We couldn't either watching the AMAs host run through an epic dance medley of some of the biggest songs of the past year, including Taylor Swift's Bad Blood, The Weeknd's Can't Feel My FaceBeyonce's 7/11 and Drake's omnipresent Hotline Bling. Oh, and did you catch Nicki Minaj's reaction to J.Lo twerking to Anaconda"No shade."

Pentatonix's Star Wars tribute

After a brief new clip of Rey, Finn and BB-8 from The Force Awakens, the five-member a cappella group was introduced by none other than Harrison Ford. (What a time to be alive, am I right?) Dressed in Sith, Jedi and Princess Leia-inspired ensembles, Pentatonix put their spin on John Williams' The Imperial March (aka Darth Vader's theme), Binary Sunset (aka The Force theme) and, of course, the classic Star Wars theme song. It was aca-interesting, to say the least.

Coldplay's gorilla dance party

The British pop-rockers have gone all psychedelic on us for their upcoming album A Head Full of Dreams, which means their Adventure of a Lifetime performance at the AMAs brimmed with kaleidoscopic images and dancing apes. Need we say more?

Alanis Morissette's duet with Demi Lovato

Alanis has a Jagged Little Pill deluxe edition to promote, which means she's not above doing some publicity stunts with younger artists. First, she stopped by Taylor Swift's 1989 World Tour in August to sing a slightly awkward duet of You Oughta Know, whose NSFW lyrics more than likely went over the tweenage concertgoers' heads. She sang the gritty anthem again on Sunday, this time with a more-than-capable Demi Lovato. She was just 3 years old whenKnow was first released 20 years ago, but Lovato's rock edge and husky vocals proved a natural fit for the song.

Justin Bieber rain-soaked finale

Saving the best for last, Bieber closed out the show with a medley of his recent hits. Starting with a stripped-down version of What Do You Mean? and seguing into a dance-fueled performance of Where Are Ü Now, he finished off with a rain-drenched rendition of new singleSorry. As denim-clad dancers gyrated in the back and audience members waved pink glow sticks, Bieber jumped in puddles and crooned his tropical hit, because Sorry is a total jam and deserves only the splashiest of performances.
